● Texas Winter Storm Starting on Saturday, Feb 13th, 2021, it started snowing in Texas. There is still an ongoing snowstorm. It has affected people’s homes’ electricity and power to go out, and the temperature has dropped. Thirty-eight people have died from the snowstorms and the freezing weather. Around 300,000 homes in Texas have been without power since Thursday. Texans have been looking for other ways to stay warm through generators and fireplaces, living cars, or in warming centers or businesses. Due to this, Covid-19 vaccines have also been delayed and have been canceling appointments. The Houston Health Department thinks that it will resume this week. ● Serena Williams Possibly Leaves the Press Conference in Tears After Losing to Naomi Osaka At the Australian Melbourne semifinals on Thursday, February 18th, 2021, Serena Williams had a match against 39-year-old Naomi Osaka. Williams was hoping for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title at least until the French Open later this year. Osaka secured the 23rd Grand Slam title. ● The U.S Officially Rejoins the Paris Agreement On Friday, February 19, 2021, the United States officially rejoined the Paris Agreement on climate change to lower global emissions and avoid its long-term effects. Around 200 nations have signed and are devoted to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to decrease global warming below 2 degrees celsius. Rejoining the Paris Agreement was one of Biden’s primary goals after taking the oath of office. ● Kim Kardashian Divorces Kanye West On Friday, February 19, 2021, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West officially divorced after being married for seven years. The divorce paperwork that they filed from the Los Angeles County Superior Court has been officially completed.
