  • ● On Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, Joe Biden was sworn into office as the 46th President of the United States at the Capitol in Washington D.C alongside his wife, Jill Biden and Vice President, Kamala Harris

  • ● Lady Gaga sang the national anthem on Inauguration Day

  • ● Amanda Gorman, a 22 year old-poet from Los Angeles gives an empowering speech on unity and togetherness, “America is more than a pride we inherit, it’s the past we step into and how we repair it.”

  • ● Former President, Barack Obama and former First Lady, Michelle Obama arrived at the inauguration sending their support and love to Biden and Harris

  • ● On Inauguration Day, Biden also signed the Paris Climate Agreement as one of his first acts in the White House. Previously in 2017, Donald Trump had the U.S withdraw from it.

  • ● Biden signed a mask mandate— he is requiring all Americans to wear a face mask for 100 days. This is a federal level requirement and it applies to public facilities, airports, public transportations, and etc.

  • ● On Thursday, January 21st, 2020 in Baghdad Iraq, twin suicide bombings occurred in a busy market, killing around 32 people and leaving 110 injured. It was one of the biggest suicide attacks in three years.

  • ● London approved the removal of the Robert Mulligan statue in the Museum of London. Mulligan was a slaveholder and founder of London’s global trade hub.
