How to Romanticize College

By Katerina Trianafillou

We all go through periods of time where we want to be that girl, the one you see on social media that always has her life together. She has a set aesthetic that screams being healthy and living your best life. But, even though it can seem far out of reach, there are simple steps that can make life at college more appealing and romanticized. By following these steps below, the way we live our life at college will be more enjoyable for ourselves.

  1. Make time to dress in your favorite outfits.

- When we put on clothes that make us feel confident about ourselves, we perform better in our work. So make sure to put on your favorite outfits most school days. It can motivate us to get out of the house. When we feel better, we do better.

  1. Buy school supplies that you love to use.

- When it comes to buying school supplies, buy what matches your aesthetic and favorite color choice, it will make using them during homework more enjoyable. Some like stickers and fun pens to go with their planner, while others like clean neutral colors and tones on every item.

  1. Make playlists for your moods and study sessions.

- Make a playlist for every season or your different moods. It’s great for walking to class, hanging out in your room, and studying with friends.

  1. Organize study dates with your friends

- Pick your favorite spot on campus or a coffee shop nearby to meet up with friends to do your work. This can motivate us and keep our social battery running. Not to mention grabbing a coffee is always a plus.

  1. Make time for exercise during your week.

- Try to work out 30 minutes a day! Start at your own pace; the most important thing is that you move your body. By doing this frequently, it gives us more energy and helps with mental clarity and health.

  1. Join after school activities and clubs

- It is important to keep ourselves the right amount of busy. If you find yourself having extra free time, find a club on campus that sparks an interest in you. It is an excellent way to gain experience in different work fields, meet new people, and make friends.

  1. Have a good morning and night routine.

- Having a morning routine that gets you out of bed and happy to start your day is essential, just as important as finding one that helps you relax and wind down after all your classes and workload.

- For your morning routine, I suggest:

- Wake up early! Have some extra time to get your routine complete.

- Make your bed every single day.

- Drink water when you get up.

- Open your blinds, let some air into your room.

- Make some tea or coffee, have breakfast.

- Write your to-do list and see what has top priority.

- Stick to a skincare routine.

- Get yourself ready and put on an outfit that makes you feel good.

- For your night routine, I suggest:

- Shower and complete skincare routine.

- Change into some comfy clothes.

- Light a candle/diffuser oils.

- Drink some tea.

- Read a book or journal about your day/thoughts.

- Prep for your next day.

- Go to bed at a reasonable hour. Good sleep is essential.
