How to Celebrate Valentines’ Day in Eugene, Oregon: the Right Way.

By Katerina Triantafillou

Still figuring out your Valentine’s Day plans? This holiday can be tricky to celebrate in our college town. However, this will be my third year in Eugene, Oregon, and our city can offer plenty to see and eat for the holiday. Below, you'll find my top three activities to do on Valentines' Day in Eugene, whether you are with your partner, by yourself, or with your friends.

  1. Art and Coffee, Simple.

Visit the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and get a coffee after. The museum is situated on the University of Oregon campus in front of the Knight Library. It is filled with stunning art that can keep you occupied with your partner or friends for a reasonable amount of time. You’ll see Monets, Basquiats, etc. After exploring the museum, walk or rent a Peace Health bike and head over to your favorite coffee shop off-campus, like Vero or Meraki.

  1. Unwind in Nature

Explore and relax in Hendricks Park, the oldest park in Eugene, which is a little less than a mile away from the University of Oregon campus. Walk or bike over and enjoy its beautiful nature. Hendricks Park is a perfect place for you to sit and talk or go for a walk while you explore its scenic trails. With spring sneaking up, you will likely start to see some flowers blooming, making the day even more special.

  1. Dine on Neo-Neapolitan Pizza at Hey Neighbor Pizza House

Hey Neighbor Pizza House is one of Eugene’s favorite local pizza shops. It is convenient with its location off-campus, and the shops surrounding it create a great atmosphere. Their menu consists of tasty appetizers, neo-neapolitan pizzas, and great drinks. After dinner, head over to Sweet Life Petite for decadent desserts. You will be sure to enjoy the valentines day feast!

Your holiday this year can be made unique if you know how to celebrate it. If you have been hesitating on what to do, I promise these activities will make your day memorable. So enjoy and Happy Valentines' day!
